Albert R. (Skip) Counselman, CPCU
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

As Chairman & CEO, Mr. Counselman leads a team of over 245 professionals and technical support staff who advise and assist their clients in the purchase, administration, service and management of business, professional and personal insurance programs. Mr. Counselman is also Vice President and Director of Professional Agencies Reinsurance, Ltd., a Bermuda-based reinsurer, and Director of AHIL, Ltd., a Cayman-based reinsurer. He is also past Chairman and current Director of Assurex Global, the largest international network of independent agents and brokers.

Mr. Counselman is past Chairman and a Director of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, the leading commercial insurance industry association in the United States. He is also Director of the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters/Insurance Institute of America.

Mr. Counselman holds numerous leadership positions on boards throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He is the Chairman of both St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and Carrollton Bancorp. He also serves as board Director of both The Sellinger School at Loyola College in Maryland and the Maryland Hospital Association (MHA). He is a former Trustee of Kennedy Kreiger Institute, The School of the Cathedral, Concert Artists of Baltimore and former Vice Chairman of Friends School of Baltimore.

Mr. Counselman received his Bachelors degree from the University of Notre Dame. He has also received the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Mr. Counselman is a graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee's Leadership Program. A Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Mr. Counselman has also held various positions with the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, and with the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Cardinal’s Lenten Appeal and the Heritage of Hope Campaign.
